Ashley and other Collaborative Law attorneys and colleagues from the Triangle Area met to develop a plan to better educate North Carolina citizens on the growing trend of Collaborative Law Divorce.

The Board of Directors of Friends of Public Radio, Inc. holds the FCC license for WHQR.  WHQR is a non-profit public radio station known for unique performances, solid programming and community spirit in southeastern North Carolina.

Coastal Collaborative Colleagues is an interdisciplinary group of specially trained professionals committed to providing an alternative to the traditional adversarial court process for resolving divorce and family law disputes. Ashley practices domestic and juvenile Collaborative Law and is a founding member of this nonprofit organization created in 2012

This CLE was offered by Power to the People whose mission is to empower attorneys with practical and relevant information that will directly impact their practice and their ability to provide high-quality legal services to their clients

The topics covered in the CLE on Nonprofit Board Governance for Lawyers included (1) good governance for nonprofit lawyers; (2) the public charity life cycle; (3) governance and state law; (4) investment and financial management oversight; (5) executive compensation; and (6) lawyers serving on nonprofit boards.  According to Harrison, “The CLE covered a range of topics important to any lawyer advising nonprofit corporations, and I keep in mind the information and perspectives provided in the CLE when I advise my community association clients.”

Legal Aid of North Carolina is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that provides free legal services in civil matters to low-income people in order to ensure equal access to justice and to remove legal barriers to economic opportunity

The NBI is a provider of continuing legal education and training.  Ms. Fox and Ms. Roden presented to other North Carolina attorneys on the fundamentals of preparing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and ancillary documents such as powers of attorney; the pros and cons of using various types of documents, as well as the ethical issues related to estate planning, both from the attorney's perspective and from that of the client who must make end-of-life medical decisions.

This annual event raises money for scholarships.  Patrick Wilkerson, a CFCC scholarship recipient and recent CFCC graduate, spoke at the luncheon which was held at the Schwartz Center. 

This annual fundraising event benefits WHOR public radio and featured NPR’s special correspondent Melissa Block 

DREAMS  of Wilmington is a nonprofit organization providing culture and access to the arts for underprivileged children.  Ashley has served on the Board of Directors for DREAMS since 2016.
