Elderhaus is a sponsor of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and provides long term care services, medical care, physical therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy programs, transportation and more.

Ms. Roden spoke on the basics of Long Term Care Medicaid eligibility with a group of women who provide care for loved ones who participate in the PACE program.

 

 

 

 

·         – This year’s NCGA Annual Conference, “ Guardianship: Shifting the Paradigm and Restoring Hope”, had over 120 attendees from across the State including legal professionals, court officials, caseworkers, and other persons interested in Guardianship.  Mr. Craige spoke on “Executing the Responsibilities of Guardian of the Estate”.

·         This event will provide the Chamber of Commerce and its members the opportunity to talk with elected officials from New Hanover County, City of Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach as well as US Senators and Representatives and State Senator and Representatives in an informal setting.

Ashley attended an 8-hour course at Coastal Care on May 7, 2015.  This added skill set will assist her clients and their families to identify and provide initial help to young people experiencing mental health problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance abuse disorders

On October 10, 2014 same-sex marriage become valid for NC residents, including NC recognizing same-sex marriage performed under other states' Marriage Laws.  This monumental shift in NC law will cause a trickle down effect to many areas of law including: family, juvenile, adoption, real estate, trusts/wills/estate and tax, among others.  Many areas of NC law are still unclear until the state legislature catches up to this law change.  Ms. Michael learned how to prepare NC citizens for the law changes, how to represent this new group of NC citizens, and also anticipate holes in our current laws.

Mr. Craige and Ms. Roden spoke to the residents of Champions of Assisted Living Facility on concerning steps you may take to keep control of you life and assets as you get older.  Topics included capacity to make decisions, professionals you may speak with to maintain your autonomy, revocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney and living wills.  If your organization would like to schedule an event for Mr. Craige or Ms. Roden to speak on maintaining autonomy while aging, please contact Jennifer Roden.
