The featured speaker was Tracie McMillion, head of global asset allocation strategy for Wells Fargo Investment Institute, a subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company that is focused on delivering the highest quality investment expertise and advice to help investors manage risk and succeed financially.  Professional golfers Matt Jones and Luke List also spoke at the breakfast at Eagle Point Country Club.

This year marked the 16th Annual Golden Hammer Breakfast fundraiser. Individuals and businesses met at the Wilmington Convention Center to support Habitat’s mission of making home ownership a reality for families in the Cape Fear region. This year’s speaker was Kendall Alley from Wells Fargo. Kendall is the regional president for Charlotte and the executive host for the Wells Fargo Championship PGA Tour.

This year’s conference brought together Elder and Special Needs Law Attorneys from across the country to hear presentations covering Advocating for a client’s right to remain in the community, consumer rights and debt collection for an aging population, advanced Medicaid planning, and divorce and practical planning for special needs children. The conference also provided a congressional outlook on health reform and the future of elder law and special needs planning. While in Boston Mr. Craige and Mrs. Roden also had the opportunity to attend a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park

The Spring Social enhances the union and fellowship among the practicing attorneys of New Hanover County by providing an opportunity to socialize outside of the office or courtroom.  The NCBA hosted this year’s Spring Social at New Anthem Brewery in downtown Wilmington.

Kids Making It is a nonprofit youth program that teaches woodworking, life and entrepreneurial skills to at-risk youth from age 8 into young adulthood.  KMI endeavors to help young people to stay out of trouble, stay in school, graduate and go on to the workforce or college, thereby maturing into successful adults.  The fundraising breakfast provided an opportunity to hear from the young participants first-hand, and to receive an update on the planned expansion of the KMI building on Castle Street

Jennifer spoke with groups of students about how she chose her career and the things she enjoys most about her work.

This annual event provides the Chamber of Commerce and its members the opportunity to talk with elected officials in an informal setting. Representatives from New Hanover County, the City of Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach as well as US and State Senators and Representatives will attend the BBQ.

The speaker, Carl Younger, discussed BarCARES.  BarCARES is a confidential, short-term intervention program provided cost-free to members of participating judicial district bars, voluntary bar associations, and law schools. They offer assistance for a variety of personal and professional issues.  Noel Fox serves on the BarCARES Board of Directors.

Jim Dodson is a New York Times best-selling author ("Final Rounds," "A Golfer’s Life" with Arnold Palmer, "A Son of the Game").  Wells Fargo Championship Executive Chairman Mac Everett was also in attendance

This event provided Ashley and her colleagues from the Triangle area the opportunity to determine how to inform and educate North Carolina citizens about Collaborative Law. Collaborative law, an alternative to the court system, empowers the participants to work together as opposed to against each other to resolve domestic matters.
