In a state with more than 35,000 licensed attorneys, Ashley Michael is proud to be one of the few who is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist. Ashley has over a decade of legal experience in the areas of Adoption, Juvenile Law, Legal Mediation, Collaborative Divorce, and Divorce Litigation. She is also a certified Parenting Coordinator and is able to act as a quasi-judicial officer for parents in high-conflict custody dispute cases.
While she is a trained litigator, Ashley also believes in educating her clients about alternative dispute resolution, mediation, and collaborative dispute resolution options to empower clients with legal approaches that will serve them best. To further support alternatives to traditional litigation, Ashley has founded two nonprofits: (1) Coastal Collaborative Colleagues, the only collaborative law practice group in Southeastern North Carolina, and (2) the North Carolina Collaborative Attorney Network, the only statewide practice group supporting collaborative divorce attorneys. She currently serves as an active board member for both organizations.
Ashley began practicing law in 2006 and joined the Craige & Fox team in January 2011.
Locally, Ashley has served on the Lawyers for Literacy Council, New Hanover County Teen Court Board, New Hanover County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Dreams of Wilmington Board, and currently donates her time to Dreams of Wilmington, GHA Autism Supports, Open Gate Shelter, March of Dimes, Good Shepherd and Nourish NC.
She and her husband are the proud parents of two children. Ashley loves traveling with her family, hiking in the mountains, doing puzzles, and reading. She married into an SEC family and spends the fall following and participating in the fun, excitement, and drama of college football Saturdays!
