Elderhaus is a sponsor of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and provides long term care services, medical care, physical therapy, recreational therapy programs, transportation and other services to improve the quality of life for the elderly.  Participation in PACE is an alternative to nursing home care for those 55 years and older with Medicare and Medicaid provided by PACE. 

 

Mrs. Roden focuses her practice on Elder Law and Estate Planning and will use her experiences as an attorney to support and grow the Elderhaus program in New Hanover County.  Mrs. Roden’s service on the Elderhaus, Inc. Board of Directors is also an opportunity for her to learn more about the programs and services available to her clients in New Hanover and surrounding counties.  Mrs. Roden stated, “ I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with a program that offers our seniors the opportunity to remain in their homes while continuing to receive care and services that keep them healthy and independent.”

The event showcased the luxury options for active senior living at Carolina Bay, Wilmington’s newest planned continuing care retirement community at Autumn Hall.  Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), like Carolina Bay, offer seniors a full range of choices and services on one campus – from independent living to assisted living to skilled nursing.  CCRCs allow seniors the opportunity to age in place.  CCRCs are regulated by North Carolina Statutes.  Anyone interested in investing in a CCRC should be familiar with the North Carolina rules and regulation that govern CCRCs.

 

The Shrimparoo provided Mr. Freedland with the opportunity to network with other chamber members and community business leaders.  One area of focus for Mr. Freedland’s practice is Business Law.  Mr. Freedland stated, “ I enjoy attending Chamber events.  The Chamber performs an invaluable service by focusing on economic development and expanding opportunities for business and individuals in Wilmington.”

In taking his oath, Mr. Freedland swore to support, maintain, and defend the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of North Carolina and to truly and honestly demean himself in the practice of an Attorney to the best of his ability and knowledge.  Mr. Freedland is prepared for these responsibilities, and is excited about joining the Craige & Fox, PLLC team.

Craige & Fox, PLLC sponsored a team for the September 19, 2015 Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta & Festival

Proceeds from the 3rd annual Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta & Festival went directly to benefit Step Up for Soldiers and their programs providing volunteer services for renovations, recreation and recognition for recently disabled Veterans.

 

PNC economist Mekael Teshome spoke at Cape Fear Community College’s Union Station to a group of business and economic development professionals regarding the national economic picture and Wilmington’s economic future.

 

Cape Fear Museum Park’s interconnected park-like landscape and interactive exhibits will introduce visitors to some of the ways that people have interacted with the region’s land and water resources through time and how these interactions have shaped the history of the Lower Cape Fear region. Visitors to the park can engage with hands-on exhibits, explore gardens featuring native and adaptive plants, learn about historic objects and images, and enjoy special educational activities. The park’s design provides fun, educational, family-friendly and inspiring ways to explore and enjoy nature.

The Power Breakfast Series is a quarterly gathering of the Cape Fear business community to talk about issues of interest to the region. The September 15, 2015 Power Breakfast featured Chancellor of UNCW, Jose Sartarelli, and President of CFCC, Amanda Lee, to discuss the future of higher education.

 

This event provided attendees the opportunity to network with other professionals in Wilmington while watching the Wilmington Hammerheads play Charlotte Independence.

 

This year’s Unprogram was held in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina. Topics covered during the program included Veteran Pension Planning, Medicaid and Special Need Planning, Estate Recovery Claims, and Prevention of Elder Fraud and Financial Exploitation.

 

Denise Ryan of Firestar Speaking was the keynote speaker at this networking opportunity for professional women sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and held at the Coastline Convention, Conference & Event Center in Wilmington.
