The first Leadership Wilmington Class of 2017 learning session focused on the arts, history, and culture of Wilmington. The class members heard from and met with Bob Jenkins;,Shane Fernando, Director of the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College;, Anne Brennan, Executive Director of the Cameron Arts Museum;, Rhonda Bellamy, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County;, Cleve Callison, Station Manager at WHQR Public Radio;, Alisa Harris, owner of TheatreNOW;, Sheryl Mays, Executive Director of the Cape Fear Museum;, Tony Rivenbark, Executive Director of Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts;, and Johnny Griffin, Director of the Wilmington Regional Film Commission. Harrison stated “I enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of Wilmington and the thriving arts scene of my hometown. Arts participation is economic development, and I am proud to live in a town with such a unique and dynamic culture.”
The Cape Fear Literacy Council provides personalized education to adult learners throughout the Cape Fear region. Craige & Fox, PLLC was proud to be a sponsor of the Spelling Bee for Literacy, which raised awareness of and money for the Cape Fear Literacy Council.
This year’s UnProgram was held in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Topics covered during the program included the growing issue of Orphan Elders, The NC PACE program, and the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act. Jennifer stated “The world of Elder Law is my passion and this program covered many of the legal changes and challenges in this field. After this conference, I am even more prepared to assist my clients and their families with their legal questions.”
This continuing legal education in Raleigh was sponsored by the NC Advocates for Justice.
At the retreat held at Fort Caswell on Oak Island, NC, Tom Morris, author and public philosopher, shared with the 2017 Class his philosophy on how to best succeed in work and in life. Chuck Witlock of the Forte Institute led the 2017 Class through several team-building exercises and shared his company’s unique approach to leadership and communication. Harrison enjoyed getting to know his fellow class members during the retreat, and looks forward to implementing the skills and strategies he learned from Mr. Morris and Mr. Witlock in his legal practice.
